Hello, I recently decided to return to Vanguard after being away for years. I logged in today and played for about 20 mins on a new char, ran around a bit, claimed some rewards, etc, then the client crashed. A couple of hours later I am trying to get back in but I have been thwarted by "Waiting for Response from World Servers". I thought the servers may be down but there are no indications of that on SOE's server status page. I can't image it is a Firewall problem as I was in the game for a short time earlier today. Incidentally, I get an install of 653KB every time I launch the client, which is odd.
The server status page is unreliable at best. If you check out the News and Announcements section you'll see that today is patch day. The servers were taken down a couple of hours ago and are due to brought back up in about an hour's time. The constant small install on launching the game is a known bug, it is being looked into.
Thanks for your response. It is now 8:00pm eastern and I still have the same issue. I can only guess that the servers are up by now, no?
The servers have been up for a while now. Sounds like something on your computer/ISP could be blocking your connection?
Yeah, I disabled my firewall and I got in no problem. Now I need to figure out what to set it to. Thanks for your reply.

I'll be honest, I'm a little confused on what to do about the firewall issues. The SOE Launcher is granted access, but I am still seeing packets blocked from the game IP #. Is there another application I should grant access other than the Launcher?

The kb article Sinisna provided should be useful but if you need us to fully look over your comp, feel free to submit a ticket with your Dxdiag and MSinfo.
