Tharridon

Discussion in 'Gameplay Discussion' started by ARCHIVED-Wigin, Oct 11, 2012.

  1. With this patch there has been some optimizations to the Tharridon encounter so that it should function like intended when there are large numbers of players in the area. If there is a guild that would like to run it with me there please post so I can schedule a time to see it.

So it's been tested and doesn't work - nothing fixed really (roots/stuns everyone in raid ect ect). It's been almost 13% of a year since tharridon's appearence on live, and so far nothing even close to a working encounter. Any idea at what percent of a year since release we might see a tharridon encounter worth attempting? Also, what are you going to do differently from now on to ensure that the next "Tharridon is now fixed" announcement will have a different result than the last 5? same proclamations?
  3. What I wanna know is....if you know it's not working correctly...and ur standing there watching our raid beat our heads against it for 3 hours straight....why you no say something?

    Not cool brah
  4. Not asking for stats of course...but if it's clearly broken, just say "hey guys, wait till next patch, this is a waste of time."

    Working as intended

(Intended to never work, please continue to play till January 1, 2020 for a update. Thank you and enjoy the game)
  6. It's not a total loss. I think we are seeing an evolution with Tharridon. Obviously, everyone would like testing to be done before releasing him, but for whatever reason (way too many factors that we don't know about in my opinion) this seems to be the test phase. I have no experience with game development, but I spent 17 years in the automotive industry developing parts and whatever you want to call Tharridon's status atm, it is clearly the PPAP (prototyping) phase. We are testing this encounter. Expecting perfection at this time is ridiculous. Wigin is observing and making changes based off those observations. I am happy with how it is proceeding (the adds are much smoother at least), just wish this would have happened previously and on the "Test" server. It seems pretty clear that Wigin wasn't responsible for the decision to push Tharridon to live when it was. Much akin to the Warrior changes. Hopefully that won't be the case with CoB. Take a page from Ernest and Julio on this one fellas.

    Fair call.
But remember that this is just one single mob. Do we have to go through this same process every time a new raid mob is introduced into the game? There has been limited testing done on Zaakirnis and Balubas, but the odds on these being just as unplayable are higher than az.
  8. Wigin, can you comment on whether changes were made involving the amplitude of the punt that was causing his root ability to apply inappropriately? If it has not been changed could you give a timeline of when you think it will be?
  9. Damage has been tweaked mainly on the Blood and Soul Essences in the next patch. There will probably be one more set of adjustments that I will need to make.
  10. Sounds good. Were changes made regarding the punt though? We were getting locked in place after being punted, by the mechanic that is supposed to only occurr when you leave the playpen. This made the encounter incredibly frustrating and probably impossible. I hope some change is in the works to prevent this from occurring.
  11. Couple of minor issues:
The area right behind where Tharridon stands (near the converge point for the hill), the land area dips down a little. This causes LOS issues in certain scenarios. Can the small area behind Tharridon also be made flat (i.e. same elevation) instead of dipping down towadrds the hill?
Tharridon's Rage seems to hit for 9k+ on a tank which seems a little too high. Normally it is not an issue but in certain unlucky scenarios if it lands back to back with Tharridon's regular abilities could result in tank being one shotted. Can you please confirm if these are the intended values? I am ok if that is the intended dmg for his rage.
