Launchpad - "Network Error"

  1. Ok, so, I run the launchpad (its v1.75 - unsure if thats the latest but it appears to self-patch oK - it's a round crappy bubble looking thing, not the old, working, Vanguard launcher).
    Router is the same as it was previously that worked, with no settings changes. It's a WAG320N.
    Other games all work OK - including other SOE games like EQ2s launcher.
    I enter my login details, and all I get is this -
    "Network error. The server is not responding, please check your connections and try again."
    Now, I have never previously had an issue connecting. I have, however, reinstalled Windows (Win7 Home Premium x64) since I was last able to connect - and I believe this is a newer version of Launchpad than was out when I last connected also. It is the installer downloaded from http://launch.soe.com/installer/Vanguard_setup.exe
    I have tried with Windows Firewall disabled. I have tried installing a 3rd party firewall (Comodo - with Windows Firewall still disabled of course) and specifically allowing the launchpad.
    The launchpad.log looks all good until it ends with

    It appears from firewall logs that the launchpad is connecting to (or trying to connect to, anyway) 64.37.156.7:7000
    Can I get a proper launcher from somewhere, or can anyone shed some light on this issue - please? :)

    Have you tried the LP4 mate? Click Vanguard ---> LP4
    If that doesn't work let me know and I have a link some where in my email for it.

    That seems to be the same setup I've already tried. Re-ran it anyway, but still the same issue. The SOE splash screen appears, the patcher patches itself, but when you sign in, network error.

    I am not sure if it is the same one or not but this is the link I was emailed from SOE Support team and it worked fine for me, it downloaded/installed LP4 which then patched and was able to launch and play VG perfectly (until recent when it broke for everyone again lol).

  5. For some reason it is still trying to use the v1 launchpad if you are getting the 'blue bubble'. The new version installs to ..\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\Vanguard folder by default, and uses the LaunchPad.exe in the actual Vanguard folder to launch the game. Just check to make sure that's the file you are using to launch the game and not the old one.
    The new launchpad should be version 4.0.0.602, and should be a big flash/web based box with a white/green update bar at the bottom.
