State of the Game.

  1. So...how's Vanguard doing these days?

I CBA to read through 4 years of threads in General Discussion...and figured a fast query here was a better idea.
  2. Should point out...I tried the game for 15 days back in 08...and played it a little again during the 45 days of free time in 2011.

As a person that has only ever really invested MMO time with SW:G....is Vanguard Open World and Sandboxy enough to hold the interest of a SW:G Vet?

It's not the same as before the NGE debacle changed things from what I heard (that was way more 'you are the world' kind of deal).
But the game has come a long ways since 2008. Classes have been tweaked for balance, it's not perfect but it's getting closer. There are few bugs over-all (I've found, anyway. I don't fall through the world as much!).
The level cap has been raised to 55 and there are some solo, group, and raid content for that path, though not nearly as much of the former as the latter.
Then there's the F2P movement, which has opened up class/race restrictions. Racial starting zones have been consolidated to one per continent and there have been a number of itemization changes to fill in gaps and bring things up to the standard that the Isle of Dawn set when it was released.
I know I'm certainly missing things though.
  4. from the perspective of one that started in beta, suffered through launch , saw the game grow on players that expected more than fast levelling and easy rewards, the game is still the best immersion MMO out there. There are currently issues with lag that have been a major frustration for everyone but the F2P conversion has brought in new and returning players to help us grow and be granted more dev attention.
This is the only game out there that has a truly immersive feel, complex crafting, and the diplomacy sphere of gameplay. You wont know how it fits your play style until you make a few characters and level them up a bit, try it, after all, its free,.
