To all EU players considering Telon

Discussion in 'Telon' started by ARCHIVED-Scaladri, Sep 23, 2012.

  1. Greetings, this is just to inform all of you EU players that are thinking of rolling on Telon that inspite of what posts found here may urge you towards, you actually do have a choice.
    - You are not "forced" into rolling into a US server due to population issues. Halgar has seen signs of increase of population as well, albeit yes, lower. There is (besides native guilds such as a German and i believe a French one) additionally an active guild [The Mist of Halgar] which has end game characters transferring back to Halgar to help the community grow and reform. They have so far far been extremely helpful and polite. I give them props for both their effort and their commitment.
    - Your ping will be better. Also, You will suffer much less from the infamous hitching issues (see various forum posts). And i speak from experience. I run on 40+ FPS inside Martok, and i still have those over at Telon, need to reboot every hour or so, and i still whipe when during combat..ever since i gave up and rolled in Halgar, i stay online all day long, and i barely get to experience it. Major improvement.
It is your choice regardless, and all the best with it. As long as you are being made aware of your actually having one. I wish you well! And please dear moderator, be you Zatozia or another, do not move this to the Halgar sub-category..This is about Telon EU players, and their allowed choices. It would not harm to make them aware of them. My thanks in advance :)
  2. Hello Scaladri and thanks.
few people and myself went back on Halgar to be present at the launch of F2P, why?
because we wanted to recreate a new comunity on this server and give it a fresh start.
We created in May " The Mist Of Halgar "
Friendly guild with a variety of members for the most part from different European countries.
We invite all players wishing to join us, veteran, new players, Returners because we really want this server revive.
Language spoken in the Guild is English but as said we come from all different EU countries so there's always someone that can help in translation when dificulty occur.
we are growing and rebuilding slowly what was lost, that include also the other new Guilds that raised at F2P launch.
So, new player, Veteran, or returner come and join Halgar again all was done before, but all can be done again.
  3. Well first of all i want to state that some of the advantages are just not true, On halgar i have an avarage ping of about 100, from amsterdam, on telon its about 200-250. This difference is truely not noticeable at all.
The lag issues you speak about are server code and client code based, and are not related to the server you are playing on, if we were to transfer back and put 24 ppl on wargolem we would get the exact same issues. This is not realted to FPS in any way these are servside ping spikes. The server maintenance on halgar is actually worse if something goes wrong it takes 2 weeks for them to fix instead of 24h on telon.

The european community on telon is still at least 5 times larger on telon than it is on halgar, there is also the overlap with other timezones that make finding groups raids and guilds a lot easier. Nost Americans dont bite, and there are no issues between us and euro guild at all in fact it works quite well.
For me, moving to telon was the best decision ive made in vanguard lately, its just a much better expirience and yes, while you do have a choise, i strongly recommend people to go for telon because it'll just enhance their game expierience.
as a 2 time switcher xeth(us) -> Halgar(eu) -> Telon(the server) i think the best expierence has always been the us server even when halgar had fair population. Its just nice to have people around 24/7
    Alimora
  4. Now with SoEs PSS1 deal, Halgars future is quite uncertain. I for myself just know for sure that I do not want to be part of the PSS1 group with my game account in any way.
  5. First of all Hello Alimora, we are just saying that Halgar revive slowly and we didn't mean to say anything bad or wrong about Telon or people playing there, the ping/fps as you said can be different indeed from any place you leave i can understand, but when i read your post i feel like dealing with an SOE advisor just saying that everyone should leave Halgar for Telon, as it's the SOE message we get when logged in Halgar.
as said again we're rebuilding a community we didn't come here to start farming overland, KDQ.... But a community.
    you said:

So, from your post i understand this way: come over Telon you'll be lvl 55 in no time be Pota T3 geared. Well where is the pleasure to take time and enjoy all aspects of the game in that way ?
Understood your point of view, but realy sad to read that no one should be playing over Halgat and/or should transfer over Telon.
i wish all the bests for any player or choices they made over Telon or over Halgar
    Collossus.
  6. Being interested in VG, i have had a read about them Nils..you have it rather..off :)
Regardless of the server you log in to, it will be your IP and your IP alone that will determine whether you will need an account with them or not. And since you are EU, you will. Whether your toons are in Halgar, or in Telon..so bit of a moot point. Apologies for my correcting you in piblic, but the purpose of this tiny little thread was to alleviate misinformation, not add to it :)
@Alimora: I only spoke, and will always do so, on my behalf. I am certain, as you are over at Telon, that you have your reasons to. Should it not be as obvious as my very first sentense makes it, this was about having a choice. Not about which is "bestest", uninterested in setting a hierarchy. I wish you well :)

I moved away from Halgar when it still had a healthy population because the community was just horrible. At the end there were almost no cooperation between guilds and the region chat could be quiet for days since no one was talking outside the guild chat. If you tried to start a group it was not uncommon with responses like "Sorry but I only group with german people". So I moved to Seradon which had a much better community.
I also like to game early on weekends so I have rest of the day free for other stuff, and at that time Halgar is deserted while Telon is full of life. I still have a few toons on Halgar that I log in with from time to time to check the status, and it still as bad as before.
    Infinium(eu) -> Halgar(eu) -> Seradon(us) -> Telon(us)

Exactly, it's all about choice, and Alimora just put forth his opinion to balance out yours. The fact is that a lot of new people find the Halgar population too low for what they are looking for, however, others like yourself (for whatever reason) find the smaller community more to their liking.
  9. I will allow the bliss of anonymity to carry us all forth into meaningless discussions regarding issues hardly anyone should give a donkey about and reply to you dear pink name supporting yet another pink name :)
You do not help people see their existing choices when the entire forum cries doom in anything regarding EU..be it Prosieb or server allocation/population. More so, one does not help the flow of a conversation when they post to impart knowledge that somehow makes your empirical facts appear false..when they are not..it does behave better, noticeably. So i came here to state it. Hence my reply to Alimora. Whatever his, or her, knowledge. That aside, obviously it comes down to personal views, am happy to know we agree on that. Next we shall delve a touch deeper into difference and alas, the proverbial social mirror. You know difference, that little bit which gets crashed down when the masses spawn to cry doom? Just join us, we have cookies? That. If it rings a bell :)

Well firstly, i don't give a toss about anonymity - if you want to come to my house for a beer you are more than welcome, although the plane fare might be a bit steep :)
As for supporting someone based on the colour of their forum name? Well, it just so happens that Alimora and i used to be in the same guild and strangely enough that guild was on Halgar so, yeah, we do actually know what what we are talking about (at times).
The purpose of these posts is to point out that some new european subscribers might find the low population on Halgar not to their liking, as a large majority have, but that doesn't mean we don't wish you the best of luck in re-invigorating that server.
