Major Geometry Bugs

  1. I'm looking for a list of areas in the world that have geometry issues that effect players the most.

    I'm not looking for floating rocks or trees or anything minor like that. I am looking for holes in the world you fall through, objects you can't navigate over or around due to bad collision, or anything that players run into that would be a major annoyance.

    Please provide the chunk # #, the location, and a brief description of the issue.

  4. The 2 obvious CoB holes (Chunk -13, -13 - Coord: -23151 18917 -87476 and Coord: 11457 14990 -89097) have been reported already, but please let us know if you find any others.
  5. The hills behind Tharridon (raid mob) in Renton Keep. If you die and take a rez you'll fall through the mountain. Tharridon's adds spawn inside the mountain too.

  7. I think I can swim through the world underwater at about 75% of anywhere at all. I make it a point not to swim near the bottom ever.

  9. I think there are too many places to start giving locs, has happened to me a lot of times.
    And i'm one with the stairs thing, let's hope they get fixed :)
  10. If there are locations that have problems please include the chunk and the coords for the location as well as any prerequesites for the issue such as having a lev buff and/or shrink spell and/or small race so the art/code team can quickly go and find the location.
  11. Pretty much any non-horizontal surface (read: hills, mountains, cliffs) is a fair target for falling through the world when flying at them.
    I suspect this may be related to the display bug where you can sometimes see "around/behind" these surfaces if you fly toward them at the proper (IMPROPER???) angle. It's as if on approach you slide behind the skinned surface and then find yourself falling falling falling...
    Also, it is very common for small races or toons with shrink effects to rez or spawn under a surface in various geometries like ramps (in Magi Hold or at Admiral Chrykalis in APW, for example), when standing on the rim of a rez/rift altar, or on cliff edges (areas in Vsurog Moor on Heg's island, alot of the edges of the plateaus are dangerous to log out on). Sorry I can't list specific locs, but these are general problems that happen in a lot of places. There's not like a height check when a toon loads in on top of an object to see if it's taller than the object, is there? It almost seems like if the toon isn't taller than the object it is trying to load on top of, it falls underneath the surface... In fact, now that I think of it, in the old days at Chicklets we used to pull EVERYONE's tombstone to the base of the ramp since everyone ran the risk of rezzing under the ramp and then needing a CoW to be rescued.
  12. Stairs near the Entrance of Mekalia. Very often when trying to go up the stairs you get stuck and rebound backwards, litterally going several steps back.
    i cannot give you a proper /loc since well, it is closed off to me. but those stairs gave my dwarf and half-elves issues quite often.

    just a note Ive been playing VG since Beta 2. most of the stair issues came about when the angle for which you could climb was changed to prevent players form climbing up mountains. after the change is when i noticed stairs having issues and coming into or out of the water.
    1) Nusible Necropolis all stairs
    2) Skrilien Point the quest location for the zombie flesh , this dungeon is copied for several area's in the game. TK, URL, and several other i don't know the names of, as said all of them are the same dungeon just in a different area. Every one of them have stairs with issue. going into the dungeon is fine since you going down the stairs but coming back up them is a pain.
    3)BoD i don;t remember having issue with going up any , but going down the steps heading to the towers you will Hop/jump over several of them, which can make you hop/jump into the water with the sharks.
    4) APW elevators
    5) when you come out of the water, just about everywhere, you will fly out about 15 or so meters
    6) when you come into the water sometime you will bouse back 5 meters before you go into the water. like point 5 i can't give you location due to the amount if time it happens and where is huge.
    7)NT floating rock or something location -38799,18324,36031 in NT (-27,24) Lamplighter's District
    flying mounts you will get kicked off your mount heading to Pota , Bod , Sod , just about every time. also are random spots but not always your flying mount speed is reduced to running speed while still on the flying mount when you chunk, as above i can't give you location due to it very random and happen just about everywhere.
    9) i know this is not part of the Major Geometry Bugs but can you look at the raid ui ?its very buggy 7 man groups , seeing ppl in your group with no hit points, all these can be reproduced. this is with default UI and custom uis.
    10) boat , ship , galleon stairs.
    11) all dock stairs
    12) all stairs in any house or guild hall.
  14. Problem with going up stairs in Castle Landsview.
    Location 9995,77485, 24546 in Costal Graveyard (-26,28) Rotation -143. Inside Castle Landsview.
    the problem also occured at numerous other locations on that same set of stairs heading out of the dungeon.

    • Ruins of Trengal Keep (-26, 27) -28282, 37283, 40527 (spiral stairs cannot get up)
    • Coastal Graveyard (-26, 28) 8579, 76527, 25795 (straight stairs cannot get up)
    • Coastal Graveyard (-26, 28) 10835, 78494, 23564 (spiral stairs cannot get up)
    • Tehatamani Harbor (-17, -14) 42951, 42373, 299 (Very large steps impossible to get up)
    • Tar Janashir (-12, -11) -12061, -65952, 13304 (Large bricks impossible to get over)
    • Silverlake (-25, 27) -70333, -48704, 42897 (straight set of stairs cannot get up them)
    • Silverlake (-25, 27) -70428, 45620, 40640 (spiral stairs cannot get up)
    • Tursh Village (-27, 27) 61861, -35936, 35354 (Barley Harvest Inn, top step of stairs has bad collision, often get stuck on it)
    • Tursh Village (-27, 27) 50409, -32517, 35101 (Another Inn, top step again get stuck on very easily)
    • Tursh Village (-27, 27) 26611, 38225, 38583 (The step to inside can easily get stuck on)
    • Misthaven Crossing (-24, 27) 75211, -65944, 47561 (Hilsbury Manor spiral stairs, get stuck on these all the time)
    • Misthaven Crossing (-24, 27) 74973, -56786, 26494 (The Crushing Burden of Shadow, again spiral stairs are a nightmare to get up)

    You can repeatedly produce this effect intentionally if you fly at a slope that is steeper than could be walked on but not horizontal. Seems rocking your camera back and forth sometimes helps, if you can get your camera to go underneath the world your character seems to follow. If you just keep flying towards it and changing your pitch a little and rock the camera you can fall through almost any mountain in the world. I don't think it works on gigantic rocks though, only sheer mountain face types.
    Not sure if you can hammer out a solution to the stair problem, but if one can't be conceived, making them into ramps would seem a simple way to fix the problem.
  16. I have major issues with the AMD GCN class video cards since their release.
    My desktop has a MSI 7970 Lightning in Eyefinity and my gamer laptop has an AMD 7970M, and both have all kinds of disappearing textures.
    This happens all over the world, is this something you want me to track? I have put in AMD catalyst Feedbacks with every driver update, its actually gotten a little less common but still happens quite a bit.
    And in case you care, Vanguard is not affect by the Enduro bug.

    i spent a good half hour playing on the stairs in landsview castle the other day. i'd get halfway up and then they would shoot me back against the wall behind me at what felt like bard speed... and no i was not singing when it happened... laughing yes, singing no. sad thing was that when i made it to the top of STAIRS, i never got any faction plat or loot... not even a cookie.
