I hope it brings more users to discuss all things Vanguard. I really want Vanguard to have a successful resurrection. I've been playing on and off since beta (the off's due to my crappy computer) and am glad that I finally have a laptop that is able to run it without freezing up too much. I really love the game and would hate to see people moving on like they have been for many years.
I will be doing my best to collect some of the old Disciple/Shaman data on these forums, updating it if necessary, and then transferring it to the new forums. If someone would like to take on this task with me, that would be wonderful. I was going to do some of the Psionicist data too, as I'm going to create one for roleplaying soon, but there wasn't even any that I could find. =(

Seems fairly radical to lose the forums forever.
Someone could write a translator or modify an existing one for another forums.
To copy all the forums and the related images and files I suspect would be on the order of 3-5Gigs of data. And then to replicate it without the ability to search would be largely a waste.
What is the rationale for moving to a new forums system?

This is just the official game forums of the company that has produced the game in question that certainly doesn't hold copyrights or intellectual property rights on the software that they have made. And like, they totally don't have a terms of service that explicitly states they can do whatever they want with user content over their communication features (but hey, we all saw the South Park episode, no one reads those anyway). Plus, they are total jerks for pulling the plug on this whole thing at their slightest whim without giving anyone ample notice.
Of course, you on the other hand, had total personal intelluctual property rights over things like screen captures from this game and data on loot tables and items, those were totally yours. Besides, it's not like you got some of these things from other people who were, you know, actually playing the game and fighting raid mobs you have never heard of or sending you item links for loot you've never seen.
You're right, I was totally out of line there.

Seriously, though, I'm all for new forums. The search feature on all these SOE forums is junk. That change alone is long overdue.

I am definatly all for new Forums, it will suck if we end up loosing some of the information. If anyone has anything bookmarked, any important information that they like to refer to and it is not already on www.thetelonproject.com please let me know, send me the information or a link to the thread to karii@thetelonproject.com and I will do my best to get it all on the site.
Also, you know, I could slam Zew for being well.. eh.. but, instead I think in some small way I personally will say Thank You.. If you hadn't been such a ....... I would have been less motivated to work on a site for the game and well then thetelonproject wouldnt be what it is today so like, ya.. w/e..

will the new forums have moderators that are not heavy handed with the "you are banned" tools that seem to not be able to tell when someone is posting irony rather than trollery? (i made that word up)
