Game crashes after hitting play on launchpad

I just deleted the cache folder in my VG folder and it fixed the problem for me.

Well, I have the same problem. I decided to play the game after a few years rest. I firstly tried to run the game off my DVD's I bought back in 2007/8, but I could not get it to launch. The book says it needs XP and I am now running 7/64, so I thought as that may be the prob, I better download it.
5 hours something later, I tried to launch and have the same experience as everyone else in this thread. the error report:

I have tried everything...and finally gave up............deleted everything...and am now downloading it again.

I am having then exact same problem.
I have done all that has been suggested amongst this and similar threads..........and even deleted and redownloaded the game.

I am having a similar problem after clicking on the station cash marketplace and it caused a sound glitch that locked me up. I reset my cpu and from then on i cannot get past the launcher as it is almost loading the character select screen then CTD.
