Stat Spread for a Disciple

  1. I'm really loving the playstyle on my Disciple quite a bit! One of the most entertaining healers i've played in an MMO, bar none.
What i'm lost on, however, is where to invest his stat points. I know that Vitality is a No Brainer, but beyond that? ... Dex?.. Strength for Weapon Damage? Wisdom for Energy? It's hard to decide where to put things.
I know that I want him to be a healer, but I don't want to downplay the other aspects of the class that are fun as well!
I'm not just looking for the "What"... i'd like an explanation as to "why" as well if at all possible. :)
    Thanks for the advice!
  2. For my disciple, I got vit->dex->str. Vit for obvious reasons, dex because it adds to your crit chance and your defensive abilities (great for soloing), str for the melee damage. I don't use wis since I usually only cast one or two mana heals a week and have never run out of energy on my disc (that I can remember).
  3. Personally ive always been str/vit and the remainder in dex. The return from str as a start in general is just much higher than dex is. it will give you much more for 1 point spend. You also attack the mob with some of your healing abilities ( the ones u should be using at least) so while u heal u still put out some dps if you spec str.
Some people like to put the remainder of the points into con though for leveling, makes you a bit more tanky.
wisdom and int are nono's for disciple really, both give very little, since you have jin heals and melee heals you'll rarely need sustained mana based healing. having an alternate gear set with some wisdom in it would not be a bad idea though, for situations where you cant hit a mob, but rarely happends.
as youll probabaly notice healing focus is really expensive on items, and items with it seem a bit crippled because of it. look very carefully at the items with healing focus and judge if their ok or not. pure stats often offer better returns.
  4. For my usual outside the box:
My Disciple is VIT WIS and left overs into CON.
It is almost never solo'd (only to clean up an old quest or a solo quest left behind), and was the main/only healer of a static play group. I found the extra WIS to give me alot of flexibility, I used alot of mana heals and thus was able to turn alot of JIN into attacks.
I also must add the character relys entirely on crafted gear made by myself, so STR and DEX a plenty from the abiltity to customize the gear to my needs and vision.
  5. pretty much every disciple who knows how to play their class goes with something similar to what alimora said. the class is designed to benefit from vitality (it effects all of your heals, melee, jin and mana) and melee crit impacts several of your heals. you really cannot go wrong if you spec vit and then some combination of str dex or con for the remaining points while leveling. there is no need to put even a single point into int or wisdom as a disciple until you hit specific endgame encounters and builds. my personal preference for soloing is vit/str with remandier in dex, which worked great leveling up solo healing groups as well as doing my own thing when a group wasn't available.
  6. I am still a lowbie (36) but all of my stats thus far have gone to DEX -> STR -> VIT. I surely plan on respecing in the future, when I hit 50-55, to VIT -> DEX -> CON/STR (alternated?).
However, up to this point I have had no problem healing a full group and, most of the time, I end up having to tank AND heal myself. I do treat healing as my main feat, but I find DEX to be my favorite stat for the Disciple.

I'm close to that, I fall into the category with Alimora as I am currently set at VIT>STR> Mixed DEX & CON.
