Well I'm finally to the point that I have decided to post about this severe lack of spell drops for Necro's. Particularly Tomb carrion of depravity and orb of corruption. Back in the day when Murderous cleave was so rare only one warrior on the server had found it, that was Luck nothing more nothing less. Now its been years of killing mobs looking for the spells inAPW,RI, and ToT. Lots of spell drops but none for a Necro , is this bad luck , call it what you want. Post 50 spells are a dime a dozen, now dropping in Pota with every named mob kill. Give Necros the same love other classes have. and make the drop rate for those two spells like all other spells,
I've got about 200 RI/ToT named kills, and 50 or so apw mini named kills and have only gotten 1x meat, and 0x orb. The drop rate sucks, the APW ones being soulbound sucks, not having them sucks.
I think one of the worst parts about this, EVERYONE who is remotely attached to raiding knows meat and orbs' value...so the targets that do have a SLIM chance to drop it, are farmed, and farmed, and farmed and...you get the point. When people have the time to farm and are lucky enough to get one of these drops, they then find the need to rip their fellow player pocketbook out of their hands. TEN PLAT, your average, heck, even some raiding players, don't have that much money to spend on a spell, but that is the average asking price....for both. Give the players who are trying to get this on their own characters a fighting chance please! Solution is quite simple, up the drop rate (please don't up it so far that it drops every time, like the Book of Lint), and make the books in APW non-soulbound.
same goes for the drop rate on the two bard spells, sung's renewing rest and the tot dropped mez, i've never actually seen the rest drop in ri and have uncountable kills, i got lucky in tot with my bloodmage wining the random on the mez but also have uncountable number of kills there from flips over the years.
gave up hope long ago for that mez I've seen the rest drop in RI a few times, well, guildies have had it drop for them, never seen it with my own peepers
so was talking with some guildies (a few who've played for years), and they'd never heard of the Mez upgrade LOL THAT tells you it drops far to infrequently.....
A few months back I farmed all the spell drops for my bard and a friend's necro. In the amount of time it took me to get one orb spell and one meat spell, I got two of every bard spell. Yes, that includes the rest and the mez. Almost all of the spells came from names in ToT. Clearing all 4 crypts of names took about 35 mins and I did that twice a day for about 2 or 3 weeks. At some point I also started going to APW and killing Akym, Izemgeli and the Malfunctioning Spark. That took me about 45 mins, roughly. Meat finally dropped off Akym. Honestly, I think the droprate is OK insofar as the frequency you get a spell drop. The only issue is that there's loads of spells and therefore it sucks when you're going for something specific. It doesn't really matter what that something specific is, if you want it then getting it takes a while. In that 3 weeks of farming there were a lot of spells that never dropped, some that only dropped once and some that dropped loads. One way to sort this out is to leave the drop rate as it is, but remove the buffs that are part of the level 50 one clicky buff that everybody gets with PotA access. That would mean the useful spells drop a bit more often, and people don't need to swear at spells they'll never use. The buffs could be put on the trainer instead.
