Disciple healing technique

  1. I'm trying out a disciple (because I can't think of anything that could ever trump the ability to feign death as a healer), and I think I've got the hybrid dps/healing thing down. The problem is that I'm at a loss for what to do when I need to focus 100% of my effort on healing.
With other classes it's simple--just cast heals full time and don't stop to DPS. With disciple, it seems like much of the healing is tied to DPS and other than tossing in Lao'Jin Flare/Kiss of Heaven and focusing on triggering Endowment of Life I'm not sure what to do. That technique has been sufficient thus far for most situations, but it feels imperfect since half my time is still spent doing damage. At least at the levels I'm at, my disciple doesn't have any 'emergency' heals like my shaman does.
I play primarily in a duo, if that matters. Any advice?
  2. Switching to the Immortal Jade Dragon stance will provide your Kiss of Heaven line with an immediate heal on top of the HoT. This means you can make a macro that changes your stance, uses Lao'Jin Flare, and then uses Kiss of Heaven to provide the emergency heal you're looking for. You'll find it comparable to the shaman/cleric counterparts... but it costs a boatload of jin.
At lower levels, Endowment of Life is your most effecient heal. It takes you six seconds to combo out, heals based strictly on your level (so it scales well with your group's encounter), and allows for three strikes worth of Inner Light to also go off providing much needed endurance, health and energy. One of the strikes even provides an additional HOT, and if you're in Immortal Jade Dragon stance, another big boost heal on top of that one too!
It sounds to me like you're doing things perfectly right... you simply aren't used to the unique class. Always remember: your heals are NOT tied to your damage - but they ARE tied to your hitting a mob.
  3. I agree that it sounds like you're on par. With Jade Dragon stance (allows for Blessed Wind + Kiss of Heaven to insta-heal), Inner Light, and Endowment of Life I consider myself an excellent healer.
If you must, you can use the time between your attacks that trigger Endowment of Life to cast energy heals instead of adding other attacks.
Also using Clarity + an attack for the critical chain will open up an emergency group heal. I find this to be unbeatable when multiple mobs are throwing out AoE's.
  4. If you use clarity, and the attack you open the crit chain with is blessed whirl/wind, then you also crit the heal portion of the roundhouse. Nice eh?
