Nim that sob

  1. Greetings, I've been struggling with "Diplomat's Saga:Developments" all day. I failed the parley, and am unable to get him to parley me again. After shuffling back and forth, deleting the quest, waiting, etc I was successful. However, I failed again..
So here I am I deleted the quest and waited an hour before I got it again, but still can not parley him.

So I'm asking if there is a workaround or not for him. Also, what is a strategy for him as mine is obviously failing.

    Thanks in advance,
    Bothanius
  2. In case anyone else is experiencing this I found a workaround for certain NPC's in the Diplomats Saga is a quick relog.
Cannot remember the name, but there is a lvl 50ish thief in Aghram you will have to Parlay with as well. If you fail the Parlay she goes KOS and attampts to kill you.
As an FD class I would slip death with a Feign Death but she would remain KoS until a relog. I have read specifically that Nim requires a relog to reset the parlay as well.
  3. Did I ever mention I find it totally stupid to have a low-level diplo quest line where the two NPCs with the hardest parleys will kill you when you fail?
I wouldn't mind them kicking the player a few streets away (Lucy) or transmuting him into something ugly (Nim), but killing for a failed parley is sick.

    Why?
Wars can be started with words...so can fights. This is the harshness of vanguard I love and it is very quickly being watered down and disappearing to the ever growing "I want everything now" crowd! :(

If you had even a remote chance of surviving, I wouldn't mind. A lvl 50 (?) mob instakilling anyone who doesn't evac before the parley ends only leads to frustration. Frustration leads to losing players. With the difficulty of Nims and Lucys parleys, you can easily lose 5-10 times until you get your deck right. Are 5-10 deaths by diplo your interpretation of fun?

I am actually running another one of my characters through the Diplo Saga quest now and as we speak, I am waiting for "Nim" to respawn after very easily killing him. (took about 10-20 mins to respawn)
The most damage he did was from a single spell. Unless your level 1-15 I don't see how you can be insta killed by this mob...he is level 50 - 4 dot.
His Chaos missile spell at most hit me for ~1100 damage.
His melee hit me for ~350 damage per hit.
They were not fast attacks, there is plenty of time to run and he is not that fast when chasing.
I was on my 55 Bear Shaman with no buffs, no skin or pet in T1 PotA gear and bits of other trash as he is an alt.
I personally like the rush of excitement knowing I may die if I fail at things in a game, without that rush, I may as well go and play WoW, Rift, Hello Kitty Adventures...
I do not want Vanguard turning into those watered down games and the way things are going with all the nerfs and whinging about things being too hard, it looks like people may get their wish and ruin this game too. :(
(I'm not speaking directly about you, just a general comment with what I see and hear whether it be in game or on these forums)
  7. Diplo saga is beginner saga, most people are low level when they do that quest. And lvl 50 4 dots kills quick if you are lvl 15-20. You should try rush which you feel on that level...
  8. So it's watered down when a level 55 player (alt or not) survives a level 15 quest mob?
*sigh* I don't see much more reason to argue around this issue if that's your stance. That's hopeless.

I have just done this quest again on level 25 character...got hit 3 times and was able to run away...easy.
What is the problem with this mob? You failed, it got angry and attacked you.
Read the actual story while diploing, he is a hired protector to stop you and it appears he is doing his job.
    and the other mob Lucy...even easier...level 50 - 3 dot.
P.S. Level 15 quest for Diplo!! and it would be a massive waste to do the quest around that low level due to the experience scaling with level but if level 1-15 adventuring toons want to do it, then prepare for the parley or get ready to run from an npc hired to stop you!
It adds to the whole excitement of think twice and pick your battles mentalities that so many games are ignoring these days and in doing so, producing such bland games that are only fit for F2P casuals who spend a bit then move on to something else once they "win".

+1111111111, sooo many games anymore have all but removed the Risk vs Reward, that made the first MMO's so great, which has caused us all to have so many fond memories of our times in them. Anymore in most MMO's and even in Vangaurd there is very very little if any Risk vs Reward ..
  11. I first did this quest at a fairly low adventuring level, and although I beat Nim fairly easily (once I realised how I was triggering the quest and stopped walking out of range) I was surprised and delighted when Lucy killed me. Not by the death obviously, but by the fact there was a penalty for failing the quest. Until that point I hadn't considered the possibility of a diplomacy NPC killing me and there was very little risk involved in starting a parley.
