Where is Vanguard installed? In Windows 7 and/or Vista I always and recommend you nstall to a games folder off the root of the drive. You can also move vanguard, its not a big deal. These OSs have pretty strict protections on anything under "Program Files". Also run the .bat as administrator will help.
Graye, the trick for removing ui faction table and with that all faction lag, was maybe the best trick ever. *curtseys*

Exmortis wrote: Sorry- march of the clueless here- I'm assuming the "game launches right after the second check" response refers to the question about making changes to the .ini? (i.e. can't make changes b/c the launcher changes it back to 32mbs automatically) If this is the case, does this render Graye's tweak changing 32mb's to 256mb's unusable? or does it only work if you start VG from the .exe file on your computer instead of the launcher (if that is still possible) Finally, if the launcher changes the .ini back automatically, has there been any request of SOE to change the .ini to 256mbs to reflect the capabilities of more "modern" computers? Thanks for your patience/ responses-
We can go around in circles here, its difficult to explain, but I will try When you use the launchpad, it does a file scan and update. Then you run you system.bat (or what over) to update ini Then you hit launch game, and the launcher rechecks and redownloads the ini and launches game No way to change it again. I run the station launcher, and it does not make these changes after y ou launch game, I have check the ini file after play and it is still the modified version I copy in. There maybe a way to use it with launchpad 3, but considering station launcher is easy and I happen to like it, I simple use it.

Graye, I tried the RAMDisc setup on my new PC and it all went well until I tried to patch Vanguard via the new Launcher. It said I did not have permission to install to the current location, any advice? Also I noticed that the new RAMDisc was empty. Is this supposed to be the case? or do I need to check the box marked "Load Disc Image at Startup"? I set everything up as per your instructions. And the mklink worked fine once I changed the line to the location I have it installed at. I deleted the cache folder from my desktop once copied into the RAMDisc, I am not sure how to get around the permission thing though, I am running in admin and I have UAC turned off.
Kilsin, You do need to have the Load Disk Image at startup checked, (after you've created the disk image for it to load). this "May" resolve the permissions issue as well, if not let us know
You also need the "Caches" folder on your RAMDisk. The MKlink from the bin directory named "Caches" needs to point to "Caches" on the RAMDisk, or it can have multiple issues. As Karii said, You do need to load disk IMG at startup (will load it when RAMDisk starts). You also want to save it on Shutdown.
Graye@Xeth wrote: Thanks Graye, I have checked the boxed, saved it again and it now looks like this: I setup the mlink again which was successful. I loaded Vanguard and am still getting the permission error though. Could it be because Vanguard is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\Vanguard"?
