With heavy hearts, we announce the sunset for Vanguard

    Dear Vanguard players,

    I'm sad to announce that on July 31, 2014 we will sunset one of our longest-running games, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. This decision was not easy -- we took much time and consideration before deciding to move forward with this plan.

    But here's the deal...player population numbers have decreased making it difficult to justify the resources needed to support and update this game. This is an older game and we're experiencing more and more technical challenges to continue running and updating it in a way you deserve. Simply put, these are issues that cannot be fixed in the long term and as a player, we would be doing you a disservice and going against our company commitment to provide the best gameplay experiences. So given this information, sunsetting the game later this year is the inevitable conclusion.

    Again, this is not a decision that we approached lightly or without serious thought and examination. We've grown with you and the community throughout the years and shutting down the game is certainly not ideal, but necessary regardless.

    I also want to let current Vanguard members know that we will be upgrading your membership to SOE's new All Access membership. Basically under this new All Access plan, you can continue to enjoy membership benefits in Vanguard until it sunsets, only now, you’ll also have top tier access in our other membership games. It is my hope that by upgrading your membership to All Access, you’ll have an opportunity to explore our other games to see if one is a fit for you.     Vanguard has had an exceptional legacy over the last seven years and I cannot thank you enough for your commitment, support and enthusiasm through the years. We will be providing more information on the game's sunset soon. In the meantime, I will be doing an AMA on Reddit at 3 p.m. today so I encourage you to join in on the conversation with any of your questions.

    Makes me want to go play WoW ... at least that game isn't going anywhere ...

    I really feel lost with no where to go ... makes me think about giving up gaming all together.

    This upsets me in a way that I am incapable of articulating presently. I just subbed for one year on my second account and my main account will not expire until November of 2014.

    As I sit here crafting items for our anniversary celebration, I am watching the reaction of the players in game. From what I am seeing, it is not at all good and the somber atmosphere is spreading.

    That said, I have given Vanguard 7 years. The event will still happen and hopefully those who still plan to be here until the locking of the doors will find some of these items something to give them enjoyment for the time we have left in Telon.

    Guess the increasing number of players from December and January meant nothing at all :mad:

    Personally I don't want an all access pass! With what I've seen of support in the 3 months I've played the game, I don't think I'd care to try another.

    Foolish me, I just subscribed last week :(

    I had only just started to play the game from the FTP launch. I started a halfling and got to max lvl 10 in all, still on the isle, and I started several other characters at the creation screen, with one logging in to start to learn smithing, and another I got to level 10 warrior.

    So much for that.

    Well kids that's enough. Deleted all my characters on both accounts, 15 lvl 55's. Sad people that invest in the game are treated this way. I will be asking for a refund of the two 6 month renewals. Not that they care about that either.
    Anyways, adios amigos and I hope you all have a great life.

    PS Personally I will never pay Sony again!

    Oooh, didn't see this coming. I just saw the announcement about all access, and then kaboom. I just started this game, and I'm sorry to hear it's going to close. I hope it's close date isn't too soon since I'd like to play more. Plus I want time to enjoy the things I bought from the cash shop!
