Cleric: Affinity to War quest question...

Discussion in 'Healers' started by ARCHIVED-Khidr, Jun 16, 2009.

  1. I am doing this quest and have killed loads of mobs in the prescribed area, but haven't got the drop I need. The quest text says it comes off "slavers", yet I haven't seen a mob by this name. I have killed a bunch of the humanoids in the area thinking that "slavers" may just refer to the random humanoids hanging about.

Does anyone happen to recall the precise name of the mobs the broken slaver cutlass drops from? Have I just not got lucky with drops so far?

    Thanks in advance.
  2. I don't recall the specific mob name, as I've only helped my Cleric friends with this quest. I'm almost positive the correct mob rides a horse, though. I believe there is only one mounted mob type out there, too. I believe the highest concetration is near the tent with the general (the first boss NPC of the CIS quest line).

I hope that helps. Good luck!
  3. They ride horses and are near the zoneline there are only about four of them in the small area, if your near ponder keep going straight to the zoneline and hang a left just before you zone you cant miss them lev 20 4 dotters I recall.
  4. The quest drops are rare. If you're unlucky you will spend a lot of time to camp those horsemen. They're not too tough to solo by a lvl 20 cleric though.
  5. This thread may be very old, but it is precisely the question I need answering now as well, and so came up when I searched for information. Unfortunately, the answers given here are a bit vague.
Does anyone know, are these "slavers" inside the Infiniem Refinery area of the zone? Or somewhere else? It all seems very dangerous in there to a 22 Cleric, that's for sure!
  6. Yes ..., its at least a bit deeper within the zone. If you enter the mine, head right, through a wall of minerals (you can get through it). Behind this wall there is some camp and here you will find these horseman ...

Wait ... this answer has confused me.
This refinery area I got to by just using the riftway to get into the area, then from the point I popped in at, facing directly away from Sage Donovan's position (so he was the on the ridge behind me) and heading forward to a gap in a large wooden fence. I found the ore I needed just lieing on the ground in the entrance to refinery area, I just had to wait a few minutes for the various 4dot duststorm-style mobs to path away from it before harvesting it.
I was under the belief that these "slavers" I need were somewhere in this same refinery area.
But you referred to a "mine". What is that? Another part of zone entirely?

  8. I was thinking about how to name this area ..., for i'm also not sure ...
There is a part within this zone called "Refinery", anotherone called "Warforge" and iirc one called "Mine". I mean, when entering this zone/area what ever, excactly as you discribed by passing this "gap", you should head right after a few meters!
Honestly, i followed the way of the peacemaker, so i don't know your quest, but reading the older posts and remembering the things i experienced, i can confirm that the horsemans are in the area i want to lead you to.
  9. A couple of weeks later, and I have finally done this, so I will post the answer.
The "Broken Slaver Cutlass" drop needed to complete the quest "The Blade of Oppression" (the subquest needed by the Affinity to War quest) comes from killing an "Infineum Slave Driver". The one I killed was a 23 four-dot wandering human. He was not that difficult to kill for a solo level 25 cleric.
I found the mob solo as follows.
I took the riftway to Cragwind Rift. I rented a flying wyvern from there (remember to step outside the cave before mounting it, I wasted a lot of time trying to inside the cave area and it won't let you). I just flew east, over the mountain range, crossing the chunk boundary, and landed in the south-west of the chunk "The Infineum Plateaus". This is safe, as it is full of player housing. Then I continued on horseback north-east (I could have flown, but I didn't know the terrain I was heading into), hugging the edge of the river, and eventually there was a mountain ridge to my left as I was heading NE. Before reaching the next chunk, there is a gap in that mountain ridge, so I turned north-west and headed through that gap, away from the river, up the narrow valley and on to the plain itself.
The plain is barren at first, and I headed north/northwest, aiming to reach the northern chunk boundary near the middle of the chunk. I crossed into the "Coterie Infineum Sanctuary" chunk. By this point, there are mobs to dodge, but they are sparse. I headed northwest toward the mountain ridge edge up there, skirting and increasing number of largely trash mobs. Once at the ridge, I followed the ridge around until I reached an open-plan mining area surrounded by a stockade. I inched over the end of the stockade on the mountain ridge, and dropped down inside.
I had to kill one coterie servant (4-dot) and one roaming horseman (4-dot), before I could pull the slave driver. One kill, got the drop, gated out.
    Hope that helps someone :)
