If there are any guilds that would like to come to Cave of Wonders this week and help test please let me know and I will try and work around the times you can raid.

Are all the buff stripping issues solved and all other stuff that's broken before we can raid under a condition that it'll be useful? Because if that's not fixed I see no sense test any. Btw in a post a while ago you told us that CoW wing is already finish and you only want to get the code done before release. As we saw last time we tried, every encounter was broken in one or more ways. Guess we all happy to test things out for you and in the end it's for us, but ask the community, we want "live server" fixed before. It's unraidable and hardly playable at all ATM. Thx

Issues should be fixed with buff stripping. We are fixing as many issues as fast as we can.

CoW is "finished" but it needs as much polish as it can get. Unfortunately most of the issues that have gated a lot of testing in Cave of Wonders have been from the DB changes and not with the content itself. Only with the last raid test of Cave of Wonders was I able to actually see issues with the content itself so I want to throw people at it as much as I can.

you mean fixed on test?? because they are not fixed on live......

It didn't make it in time for the patch yesterday so we are trying to patch it Thursday. We are building it to test server right now to try and get it ready for anyone who wants to show up.

    Hey Wigin

First of all, I think that a lot of us understand that there are different developers on different schedules, working on both front end or back end code, In software development, an architect will ask QA to regression test services, while the designer requests QA to make sure the CSS renders correctly across browsers.

Your paying customers are not your QA department. Ever since I can remember, the VG player base has been treated like we are. Or, at the very least; the same way we were expecting to be treated when VG was in Beta.

Fast Forward Years later.... This current release process is extremely disappointing from an "end user" standpoint. I don't pay to test the game, I am paying to play the game. So "and this is just my opinion" if things are broken on the environment I am paying to play in and I see posts like this, it makes me feel like the current situation is not being considered as an urgent production issue. I know you don't make the rules, and I'm sure you are doing the best you can. Please consider this from your customers standpoint. At the end of the day, we want a playable game, we don't want to know how or why, it just needs to be what we are promised when we put in our credit card every month.

There are still game breaking fixes to do, not only the buff stripping. For me it seems like the code is still broken. Stats not beeing supplied correct and giving correct amount and in some points not even counting to abilities.

*Vitality is broken for sure and healers talked about strange heal scaling since patch yesterday also.

There also all wrong with HP regen etc but to lazy work em all out...
*Haste refresh is still broken. Seems like some got a fix but broke other ones.

    *Havent checked if fixed.

    ...

Not to forget the bard song stacking issue!!
A really annoying thing are the bugged macros and need to be fixed asaps please!!

Chunk crashes got better but not fixed all. Still dismounting on some chunks. Still speed drops to run speed while flying. and still 0 speed bug got reported!
Hope you have this also in mind.
Thanx so far for your hard work!

I am not testing anything about CoW until the live server is playable.

Macro's and Buff stripping should be fixed on Test Server. Live will get the patch tomorrow along with some other changes.

That sounds great. What other changes are going in? And why dont we see a more detailed list of whats going in on a patch to patch basis.
Some stuff seems to get in from time to time that is completely unexpected.

thanks and keep up the hard work!

I'll come out to help, but honestly it's very frustrating to show up, have issues noted, and clearly demonstrated (buff stripping, bard songs, chunk crashing, debuff lag, etc., etc.) and then have everything pushed to live exactly as f'd up as it was during the testing. Offence intended here, but whoever gave the go ahead to push live a bugged to hell and back set of coding needs to reevaluate some things. We all recognize that live and test don't always mesh and some bugs won't ever be seen on test; but this last patch was just terrible, in that test itself wasn't even sort of stable before it got sent to live.

Well in theory id have to agree with kamor, many of us noted issues that we reported didnt get fixed before this went live, which makes the testing time seem a bit less usefull. i really didnt expect this to hit us so fast, it needed another month on test or something.

Then again i could see cirmonstances where pushing it live prematurely would be acceptable, say for instance having additional coders assigned to vg on a temporary basis, which is like soe's bread and butter tactic. having the additional resources to debub when **** hits the "live" fan would smooth over the expirience in the end.

Kamor and Alimora said it all,

We are going to field a raid for you Friday evening. Not sure we can get 24 so if others are around at 6pm PST on Friday 12/19 they will be welcome to join.

I have high hopes that the changes we reported and seem to have went live are also fixed on test. I am all for finding new bugs and getting them fixed. Just not a big fan of running into the same bugs we have been fighting.

TBH now that you have a handle on the BIG ones Crashes/Buffs/Macros we can report the smaller ones. Its a matter of getting last patch stable before we go live with the next and we are all willing to help get it stable for you. Just don't push it live all buggy. I am sure there may be pressure to push stuff live considering there has probably been a big drop in players meaning a drop in revenue equaling pressure from above.

So we will be there on Friday and others are welcome to join so we can field a full raid. All joing are welcome to join in Exile Ventrilo as well. I will give the info Friday evening.

So your saying NO online game has a test server? and NO other online game invites players to "beta" test content.

    Interesting.
  16. Exmortis Well-Known Member

Not sure Ican attend, but I will log in to the live and do the copy command for Treager, 52 DK tonight If nothing else I can be a number for the stress of the raid and see if any of my abilities are affected.

Can we have a copy to test tomorrow Wig?
  17. Jokkel New Member

Thats not how I read it, I think the intent of the post is. If "I" offer to head on over to a beta or to a test server then I know what I am getting in to and what I am there to do, find bugs. Now when I log on to live, I intend to have fun and play in a relatively bug free environment. So what she is saying is that the LIVE sever should not be the test server in a game people pay for. And lately Live has felt more like a TEST then live, just try and raid in it, its doable but not fun. If you dont think thats an issue take a look around at the frustration level of the player base, and worse yet how many have just up and left the game recently.

Thankss to everyone who came out on Friday night to test CoW. The test server is great as for everyone puts differances aside to work as a whole to test the things that are going to go live before they do.

There will be another test session after Christmas and all who show up are welcome to join in on the testing. Cow was lag free and super super stable with ZERO crashing.

We are not a guild to share strats on mobs, however we are willing to let ANY join in on testing to pick up strats them selves. There were 4 guilds represented on Friday and we had a great time.

Thanks Wigin and Tl enjoy the holidays.
