LF a fun, laid back, mature, and active group...

  1. Hey all,
I'm a newb, just subscribed on Tuesday. I've become pretty hooked on this game. I'm a DAoC vet and no other MMO has really grabbed my interest since that one, but VG is really fantastic. The only thing I'm lacking right now is an active group to hang out with.
I'm hoping to find a few like-minded people that just wanna have fun, whatever that means. I enjoy all types of game content if the situation is right, but what really makes an MMO awesome are the people you can just goof around with while spending time at a forge or whatever happens to be going on. Obviously, Im not the type that wants the game to feel like a job - but at the same time, having a group to support each other and get serious for a bit when a member needs it is important too.
Also, while I have 3 kids and certainly understand that some guilds need to be sensitive to little ones, I dont play to hang out with my kids, I play for me - so I'd like to find a group that we dont have to worry too much about it - not that an aim should be toward vulgarity, but I enjoy hanging with adults if that makes sense.
For my part, I'm not needy. I like to solo a lot. I like to craft (and will eventually start a metalworker once I get more established) and I like to help when I can. So Im not looking for handouts, just a really fun group to hang out with. Preferably small - big guilds have their place but I always enjoy it more when I get to know others in the guild. I've made some life-long friends that way.
Anyone in VG sound sorta like this? I'd be grateful for a shout out!
  2. welcome to vanguard, just look around in game, meet people, if they have guild tags check out their guild lfm notes. Plenty of guilds meet your needs.

  4. First and foremost, welcome to Telon, Krullmadden! I hope that your stay with us is long and very enjoyable.
There are a couple points in your initial post that brought to mind a few guilds within which you might find a home, but I hesitate when recommending a guild to a new player as I feel that making a personal connection with the guild is often times more important than going on referals.
I didn't notice anything in your post regarding an interest in role-playing your character, or the desire to raid and if so the frequency of raiding, so I will suggest that you give the Telon's Active Guild Listing thread a look (this is a thread updated based upon direct guild leader/officer feedback, so it can often be much more current than what is found in game). I understand you concern with noticing that a number of the guilds in the Guilds Looking For More tab are no longer active, that is one of the reasons why my in game recuitment message has a notation of the date when the information was most recently published. (Something that would be a benefit to players seeking guilds should other guilds choose to do so as well.)
As to gaining help in game, please know that there are crafting and diplomacy sphere specific channels; /craft, /dip and /diplomacy in addition to the player created /help channel.
If you find that you would like to speak with someone directly, please feel free to give me a shout via PM here or in game. A number of my characters are noted in my signature line, but feel free to give a shout for Aasha in /craft, /tavern, /help, /dip and/or /diplomacy and if I am on in any form I will reply as soon as possible.
  5. Aasha,

I really appreciate the response. I will eventually wish to raid, of course. But not necessarily all the time. I prefer that it happen rather spontaneously rather than more of a rigid "we plan to go raid x at y o'clock", and if we wipe we wipe, so long as we laugh our butts off doing it. As far as roleplaying - I often create an alt to do that when the mood strikes me, but it isnt a ton.

I would quite enjoy, I think, an RP-lite environment, but I find that I often dont have time to cultivate the full potential of a character. That, and I really enjoy getting on voice chat and tormenting guildies :)

You are quite welcome. Keep a watch out because I and Dhelmar (leader of Blackstone) are hoping to get some RP events together for the community very soon!
All the best in your search.
