  1. I played this game from beta, and a few years after. Now coming back after a very long break I thought sweet this games getting updated with the F2P model. The same old clunky map, extreamly frustrating finding NPC locations, and massive time sink is still here. I just played for a good long time today and find myself frustrated with the overall experience. Have a comp that surpasses game requirements, still have lag on low settings. Just a sudgestion but if your going to compete with the F2P market and try to restore an old game like this , dont just throw a cash shop on it thinking players will come back and tollerate the handicaps, do a MASSIVE overhaul first. Better yet make a Vanguard 2. After the waves of all the other MMO's that have come out since then , this game still remains to be one of the most painful gaming expereinces I have ever taken part in. Not too impressed.

What does your PC have to do with lag?
  3. Is that a serious statement? go run vanguard on a 10 year old laptop and youll find out what hardware has to do with lag lol.
@op The searching for npcs, getting thrown in the dark is one of the reasons many of us like this game. If thats not for you then perhaps this is not the game for you. i for one enjoy having to find my away around without hand holding quests.
If you dont like the map, go to soresha.net and grab infomap advanced, problem solved.
Im not sure what you refer to as "lag" might be fps, in which case it really is hardware related. Or you could mean the game freezes related to the ping spikes, in which case it isnt hardware related. Soe is working on a solution for this issue.

In distributed applications (such as MMORPGs), lag is caused by communication latency, which is the time taken for a sent packet of data to be received at the other end. It includes the time to encode the packet for transmission and transmit it, the time for that data to traverse the network equipment between the nodes, and the time to receive and decode the data.

What you are refeering to is Frames Per Second.
