RAM or SSD

Without going into specifics, yet assuming the initial system is a new systems, which would provide better performance gain; doubling my ram to 16 gigabytes or adding a 128 gigabyte internal SSD card. I would assume adding SSD could be less expensive, but I do not know how they necessarily interface with the computer and think that system RAM would give an overall better increase in performance?

If you are going to run Vanguard off of a RAM drive, then go for the 16 GB.

Otherwise, 8 GB is more than enough and the SSD will give far better performance.

I am running Windows 7 and was wondering if I buy a fast 16 gigabyte thumbdisk, say USB 3, would that give me any sort of speed gain? How about the option of turning 4 gigabytes of the thumb disk into the ReadyBoost and using the other 12 as essentially a SSD -- or is it just not fast enough?

I guess the other question would be is how big is a full install of Vanguard (I haven't checked and I am at work)?

    Vanguard takes up 19.2 GB.

USB, even version 3, is in no way comparable to an SSD.

Adding RAM for Vanguard specifically will be of no help whatsoever given the amount you already have.

As I have previously mentioned, unless you plan on running a RAM drive, the SSD will be be a better choice.

I have 8 gig of ram and bought an ssd just for VG when it went f2p. The difference was like night and day, best upgrade I ever made.
